Materials for Learning

Textbooks are the building blocks for education. R.E.A.D. believes every child should have access to their own textbooks that are relevant to the government syllabus and consistent with the curriculum.

Every year, R.E.A.D. purchases hundreds of textbooks and supplies them to three different Children’s Homes (By Grace, Good Samaritan’s, and St. Catherine’s) around the slums of Nairobi. In addition to books, R.E.A.D. also supplies lab apparatus to science classrooms so that students are able to have a better understanding of the exercises in their textbooks.

Pens, pencils, paper, desks and notebooks are also basic materials needed to perform assignments. These tools allow a student to sharpen their mind by forming individual thoughts which lead to ideas, interaction, and creativity. We proudly help keep these stocked throughout the year, to ensure the students have the tools they need.
